Some Frequently Asked Questions

As an Artist, what should I do after I join?

Start posting and classifying your work, creating events and discussions (Juntos) and engaging with other members in the community, leave the business side to us now and wait for you and your art to be taken to a higher level.

What type of art is supported on Socurio?

Currently, Socurio supports visual arts.  If you’d like to recommend a new category, or type of art not listed, just let us know.

Is Socurio open to people in other cities than mine?

YES!  Socurio is open to everyone around the world.  However, we are just focusing our initial marketing efforts right now to the U.S.  With such a large collection of members, Socurio is localized to better integrate and connect you into your own community.

I’m already a member of another “artist community(s),” why would I join Socurio?

Socurio offers you more than any other product or service or website out there, charges almost nothing, and provides more ways to make money from your art. While you may already have your art posted on some other website or even in a gallery, I promise you we are different.  Additionally, Socurio is not trying to compete with existing major social media websites (facebook, myspace, etc), instead, we are attempting to figure out ways to incorporate existing social networking websites rather than compe with them.

How do I get paid?

At the end of the month, we calculate all your charges and sales and credit your account accordingly.  You will be required to have a Paypal account for this process.

What does Socurio cost?

Socurio is absolutely free to join.  Only if you decide to sell your work, do we charge a nominal .35 cent posting fee and 5% commission when your art sells on Socurio. There are no monthly or annual fees.  Currently, there are no posting fees through August  01, 2010.

What other ways can I make money on Socurio?

New initiatives are being developed as we speak.  During the next six months you will see even more ways to make additional revenue through Socurio, allowing you to concentrate on your art!

Is Socurio safe and secure?

Socurio pledges to you never share your information with anyone and provide a safe and secure platform for you to confidently interact in the community though the most trusted practices available.  Additionally, Socurio is a licensee of the TRUSTe Privacy Program. TRUSTe is an independent, non-profit organization whose mission is to build user's trust and confidence in the Internet by promoting the use of fair information practices.

What Socurio is not?

Socurio is not a photo sharing website or a place to tell your friends what you are doing every 5 minutes.  It is not a place to sell everything handmade, it’s a place for people serious about their art and serious about experiencing art to collaborate and grow both personally and professionally.

Can any artist sell their work on Socurio?

No.  Unlike any art gallery or community either on or offline, the Socurio Gallery is powered by the community, not one or a few subjective opinions. We revolved a community around the market place so that people active in the community can be rewarded in the marketplace.  There is no way to buy your way to the top, you have to earn it with your involvement…and if you really care about your art and your community, you will have no problem with this.  Learn more

No one is buying my art right now!

Don’t worry, give us a little time and leave that to me, and when I’m ready, I’ll let you know how you can help yourself and the community.  We are launching a massive campaign to consumers in early November.  In the meantime, be sure to read How to be Successful on Socurio to get a better idea of making the most out of your experience.
