" My long, arduous and often confusing journey has taken me from my birthplace of Cumbria, England to Wales to Yorkshire, where I spent a happy childhood before heading north of the border to St Andrews University. Following this there followed a brief stint back in Yorkshire and then back up to Scotland again with a few little trips and adventures thrown in along the way. With a new adventure in mind and the open road laid out before me, I stuffed some clothes, books and paintbrushes into a bag and stumbled into the most Polish of groves: Warsaw, where I continued to paint, be inspired and exhibit my pictures."
" The work of an artist is an insular, even a selfish way of living. My working method involves soaking up the landscape around me and expressing my emotional response to it in paint. The result is generally a semi-abstracted piece that relies on delicate interplays of colour, composition and tone to stir up, hopefully a similar reaction in the viewer. It is a perceptive, concentrated and highly individual process. I am not interested in a photographic representation of the subject, whether it is landscape, building or person. I aim to dissolve individual elements of nature into a composition of luminous colour zones disintegrating into a confusion of bold colour; abandoning all reference to concrete reality in some cases. My attitude to painting is a continuing exploration: always looking for new ideas and interpretations. I draw inspiration from almost anything, be it a stunning landscape, current affairs or even a bottle "
