As a child living in Dhaka and then London, I’ve always painted. I’ve been fascinated by how art is appreciated in different ways depending on the viewers perspective. One person may appreciate its stylistic influences, another its vibrant colors, and yet another its textures. All this without yet considering the complexities of the subject-matter. My paintings are often of figures. I like the look and feel of charcoal and acrylic on paper. Often, I build a charcoal drawing base and then paint over it with acrylic. I love the strong lines the charcoal makes under the paint. I’m starting to experiment with textural potential of acrylic. My inspiration comes from dreams and their interpretations.
