I'm a lucky guy. I have a small home in Brooklyn with a yard that I share with my wife. I have two adult children out on their own doing stuff that is interesting (at least to me). Got work. Yet still looking for something. Guess we all are.
Got my place, my fixed body and all those contingent things around. Figure I'll search those. At least I'll not be distracted by all the stuff thrown at me, those stories constantly squeezing out what is right there.
But what am I exploring? My environment is filled to capacity. I'll explore the density of that experience.
Currently I work with a Holga analog camera and a Nikon digital. The Holga images, which are black and white, are kept intact while I cut the digital images apart, sorting them for details of color. I find this to be a wonderful way to explore my immediate environment, open it up for hidden elements. I also explore the environment of language characters for their inchoate physicalness, as part of this dense environment.
