I paint because I have to. It is my method of exploring and working out my inner self. I enjoy painting oils most of all. The subjects are as random as can be, although I am mostly drawn to subject matter having to do with people. I like portraiture, but not in the conventional posed picture, but something that grabs the personality or feeling of the person painted.

I like watercolor too, but for a totally different reason and the outcome is probably very apparent to the viewer. I see watercolor as a much more disciplined medium that requires planning and followthrough on technique - as least the way I paint.

While I have taken several courses over the years, I am predominately a self-taught artist. If it works for me, then it works in the painting.
