Description

With Turkish and Islamic society as a backdrop, The New Mosque - Istanbul Series features women and their relationship to religion and society. The Series depicts a story of gender dynamics and community with a group of women first on the grounds of a mosque, then others leaving a place of worship. At last, they all ostensibly populate Sulukule, a residential neighborhood of Istanbul destroyed in a 1998 earthquake and controversially never rebuilt.
